FCA Preschool

Preschool

FCA provides half-day (VPK only) and full-day preschool learning experiences. The morning includes instructional time using primarily Experience preschool materials. Students work on letter and number recognition, phonics, counting, listening skills, number concepts, as well as the development of fine and gross motor skills. Singing, story time, snack time, crafts, learning centers, show and tell and games are also employed to reinforce learning and to encourage the development of social skills. By the end of their K4 school year, most four year olds are able to read words, phrases, and simple sentences. Bible time is a very special time that helps the children apply biblical character qualities such as kindness, sharing, obedience and self-control to their everyday lives. A rest time is included in the schedule so the children can be refreshed as well as learn to respect the needs of others.

The school provides before and after care for preschool. Please see fees and schedules for more information.

Preschool Philosophy

Our primary purpose is to bring glory to God in all that we do. We also strive to be a blessing to each child and their family. Our teachers and staff are filled with a love and passion for Jesus. We seek to integrate the Bible throughout all our subjects, keeping a spiritual and academic atmosphere that edifies and nurtures our children. It is our prayer and our goal that all of our students will come away from FCA with the love and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and that our joyful and loving school environment will instill in each child a love for school and for learning that will continue on with them throughout their lives.

First Christian Academy welcomes children of all cultural, ethnic, and racial backgrounds. In accordance with Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it,” our school serves as an extension of the educational training in the home and the church.

Our program is based on the following concepts:

  • God has created each child uniquely in His image and has given that child special talents which should be developed and enhanced in a manner that is glorifying to God.

  • The way a child should go is clearly stated in terms of Christian character development as revealed through the Word of God. Every classroom uses Biblical stories as well as contemporary children’s literature which identify Christ-like characteristics that enhance the quality of their life (i.e., reverence to God, love for neighbors, kindness, obedience, patience, etc.), and point the way to personal faith and trust in Jesus, for eternal life.

  • Training should be appropriate for the child’s developmental level, even though it may not necessarily coincide with chronological age.

  • A well structured learning environment is essential to developing good academic skills and helping children to feel secure and free to enjoy their school experiences.
